Imprint
Custom Saddlestitched Booklet
So this was one of those fun student projects that comes along all too rarely. The professor contacted us very early in the process about putting together a saddle stitched zine as a program for the exhibit. The idea of Imprint was to catalog the marks that others make upon personal discoveries, and where that leads in the creation of art.
The students had good direction as to how they wanted their catalog to look and feel. The idea was emulate a DIY zine, which meant keeping it simple: bold text, black ink, plain, toothy paper. But they also wanted the surprise of having the catalog fold out beyond its original shape. We exchanged paper samples, created a mock-up, and with some love and care, eventually the Imprint saddle stitched booklet took its final form.
The final zine was printed offset in black ink on 110 lb Neenah Classic Crest Whitestone Cover and 100 lb Mohawk Superfine Text, and then collated, saddle stitched and folded by hand. DIY, indeed!
